Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is a must-see destination on every visitor's attractions list. It opens from 8.30am to 6.00pm daily. Entrance fees is S$16.5o for adults and S$ 8.50 for children ages 3-12 y/o. Located at 80 Mandai Lake Road, go to http://www.zoo.com.sg/visitor/gettinghere.htm.This zoo is certainly amazing which really make Singapore very unique. It can be enjoyed by the whole family. It is advisable to set aside an entire day so that you will be able to see all the animal shows. It is 28 hectares and housed about 2,800 animals.

The Singapore Zoo is a model of the `open zoo' concept.
The animals are kept in spacious, landscaped enclosures, separated from the visitors by dry or wet moats(a moat is deep, broad trench, usually filled with water, that surrounds a structure, installation, or town, normally to provide it with a preliminary line of defense). The moats are concealed with vegetation or dropped below the line of vision.

In case of dangerous animals such as leopards and jaguars which can climb very well, moat barriers are not used. Instead, these animals are housed in beautifully landscaped glass-fronted enclosures.
Oppressive cages which typify old zoos, are absent.
The end result is a feeling of openness.

A "must-see" for all the people who are planning to visit Singapore.
Singapore Zoo received numerous awards:

*Voted one of the best loved pro-family
